Pilot/Intervention Development

Developing a Novel Spatial Processing Intervention App for People with Preclinical or Mild Dementia

Spatial impairments in preclinical conditions can be seen as early indicators of cognitive declines associated with dementia. Providing early interventions at the onset of the spatial deficits may help maintain spatial cognition and slow down the progression of dementia. It has been well demonstrated that spatial thinking and abilities can be trained across different cognitively healthy age groups, using simple and low-cost activities promoting mental rotation, spatial reasoning, perspective-taking, and visuospatial memory. This research project aims to develop a novel intervention targeting spatial processing skills and abilities, to maintain cognition in people with preclinical or mild dementia.
